Christ In The Torah Part II - From Isaiah To Revelation

That Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world is the central axis of the Holy Bible. We cannot understand the Bible without focusing on this axis. All the books of the Bible talk about Christ. We cannot explain any book in an inconsistent manner with the character of Christ and his work. When we think in the Bible, implications and different incidents, we find that the Bible talks about Christ who will come to save the world from sin. We find that the Old Testament paved the way for his coming through prophecies, examples and multiple symbols. On this basis, the author addresses these prophecies and symbols, and their fulfillment in the New Testament.

The writer reveals the following about Christ in the prophetic books:

Christ in Isaiah: Christ is the Son and the suffering servant (Isaiah 17:14, 53).
- He was rejected from his people: the prophecy (Isaiah 1:4), the fulfillment of the prophecy (Acts 15: 7- 25).
- The work of Christ on the cross: the prophecy is stated in (Isaiah 1:18), the completion the prophecy mentioned in (I Corinthians 15:1- 3).

Christ in Jeremiah: Christ is the righteous King:
- "The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land," (Jeremiah 23:5).
Christ is the spring of living water:
- The prophecy mentioned in (Jeremiah 2:13), the completion of the prophecy in (John 4:10).

Christ in Daniel: Christ is the Son of God
- Christ will be put to death because of the sins of his people and the Son of God walks around in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, "After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed," (Daniel 9:26). He answered and said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods," (Daniel 3:25). Finally, the prophecy mentioned in (Daniel 3:19- 25), is fulfilled in (John 9: 35- 38).

Christ in Joel: Christ will come to judge people
- "Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand," (Joel 2:1)
- The promise of ‪the outpouring of the Holy Spirit‬ at Pentecost after the crucifixion of Christ: prophecy (Joel 2:28), the completion of the prophecy mentioned in (Acts 2:14- 21). ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Christ in Habakkuk: Christ is the source of joy and satisfies the heart
- "Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights," (Habakkuk 3:18, 19).
- "The righteous person will live by his faithfulness," (Habakkuk 2:4). The prophecy fulfilled in (John 3:36).

Considering how Christ is revealed in the New Testament, the author mentions the following:

Christ in Matthew: Christ is the King
- "Say to daughter of Zion, 'See, your King comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey,'" (Matthew 21:5)

Christ in Mark: Christ is the Servant
- "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many," (Mark 10:45)

Christ in Luke: Christ is the Son of Man
- "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost," (Luke 19:10)

Christ in John: Christ is the Son of God
- "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name," (John 20:31)

Christ in Acts: The Risen Christ ascended into heaven

Christ in Romans: Christ is the righteousness of God
- "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ." (Romans 3:22)

Christ in 1 Corinthians: Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God
- "Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God," (I Corinthians 1:24)

Christ in 2 Corinthians: Christ is our victory
- "But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession," (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Christ in Galatians: Christ is our freedom
- "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery," (Galatians 5:1)

Christ in Ephesians: Christ is our peace and our strength
- "For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier," (Ephesians 2:14)

Christ in Philippians: Christ is our joy
- "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4)

Christ in Colossians: Christ is our life
- "When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory," (Colossians 3:4)

Christ in 1 Thessalonians: Christ is our Hope
- "We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ," (I Thessalonians 1:3)

Christ in 2 Thessalonians: Christ is our comfort
- "May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word," (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

Christ in Timothy: Christ is the only mediator
- "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5)

Christ in 2 Timothy: Christ will judge the living and the dead
- "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge," (2 Timothy 4:1)

Christ in Titus: We wait Christ
- "While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ," (Titus 2:13)

Christ in Philemon: Christ paid our debt
- "If he has done you any wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me. I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back—not to mention that you owe me your very self," (Philemon 18, 19)

Christ in Hebrews: Christ is great Shepherd of the sheep
- "Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep," (Hebrews 13:20, 21)

Christ in James: Christ is the life of faith
- "My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism," (James 2:1)

Christ in 1 Peter: Christ is our example
- "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps," (1 Peter 2:21)

Christ in 2 Peter: Christ is our knowledge
- "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!" (2 Peter 3:18)

Christ in 1 John: Christ is the basis of our faith
- "Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat," (1 John 5:11, 12).

Christ in 2 John: Christ is the Father's Son in truth and love
- "Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, will be with us in truth and love," (2 John 3).

Christ in 3 John: Christ is the power of right in us
- "It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it," (3 John 3).

Christ in Jude: Christ keeps us
- "To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy," (Jude 24).

Christ in Revelation: Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
- "On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords," (Revelation 19:16).

The writer concludes this study by presenting the names, titles and attributes that prove that Jesus and Jehovah are one (the name indicates character or essence). Some of the names of Jesus are Jehovah, the Holy One, the shepherd, the creator, our righteousness, the Giver of Life, healer, omnipresent, omniscient, eternal... etc.
